They built a car which would awe everyone out and would be the favorite of many extreme drivers all over the world. And even some of the present car enthusiasts would picture out this marvelous car to be the best car ever.

And they of course is not just joking around for this car possessed what is thought to be hard to achieve during its time. In the late 1980’s running over 200 mph is outrageous, but that is brought possible by Ferrari. F40 became the first supercar to have a top speed of over 200 mph.

Designed by Pininfarina, this two seater berlinetta looked astonishing. This is a road car, yet it so much looked like a racing car! And that made this car even cooler, making you drive on the roads looking like you are a racer ready to sprint the road from no to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. That was 1987 people! That was more that 2 decades before.

F40 is made of tubular steel chassis. It is the first production car with body panels to be made mainly of composite materials. It is also very light, weighing only eleven hundred kilograms.

Its body styling is almost all new except around the cabin profile and the side indent line painted with satin black which follows that of the 308. It was intentionally redesigned to give way to the cooling slots and intake ducts all the way from the front end through its tail of which the “ultimate eighties power statement” lies, the high-mounted integral full width wing.

Its 2.9 L rear-wheel drive mid-mounted 90 degree V8 engine delivers a maximum power of 478 horsepower at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 577 Nm at 4000 rpm. It got twin turbo and a 5-speed plus reverse transmission.

Several racing versions of this legendary supercar were also made. Developed by Michelotto of Padova, Ferrari F40 LM and F40 GT-E were fondly found on the race tracks during the ‘90s in the European GT racing.

F40 is what came out of the prototype “Evoluzione” as the world’s fastest street legal production car of the late ‘80s. It was the most powerful, fastest and the most expensive car bearing the tag price of about 400,000 pounds.

At the heights of its fame, Ferrari had sold out above a thousand units exceeding that of the GTO about five times. People were even ready to buy it at around a million pounds! But that was 1989.

Today, there are dealers who can sell it for you over a cheap price. Today, there are cheap Ferrari F40 ready to be sold to the very lucky buyer. And don’t waste that opportunity. Owning a legendary supercar like this is very great. Even a used Ferrari F40 would be perfect addition to your collection.

Buy this car. Buy Ferrari F40. Get it to the streets and still hear the sound of its howling engine days later!
